Sage is quite the little cutie with a lot of energy. I call her our little tornado. She loves to create messes that I can't keep up with. She is very smart and easy to understand. She loves her brothers and sister. She is a pure joy and warms our hearts daily.

Morgan was more than ready to start her 2nd year at Woodbury Preschool. I was thrilled that her teacher would be Connie Westeen. She was Haden's 4 year old preschool teacher and we love her.
After the open house on a Monday. She posed for pictures on Wednesday and wow what a pose, she even has her game face on.

Haden and Kase just finished the football season where Haden's team took 1st place again! We had a great time watching the boys. Kase played a running back and a safety. Haden played right guard and tackle.

Sage loves to watch "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" so this costume was perfect for her, although she was mistaken as a darling boy a few times.
Haden received this jacket from his grandma and decided to incorporate it into his costume. He was dressed as a used car salesman. The jacket was his great grandpa's who was a Ford car salesman.
Morgan changed her mind several times; she wore a "hip hop dancer" costume to other Halloween events but on Halloween she decided to be a cat.
Kase was proud of his "Men in Black" costume. He justs needs his sunglasses.

I thought that Haden had the best birthday and got what he really wanted but I guess what all the kids have been asking for is a pet. Well we will have to get a goldfish or something for now. I am not ready for the expenses and the reponsibility. Don't they know how hard it is to keep up with them. Anyway, the kids love their Aunt Hannah's dog, Lily. She is a cutie.

Memorial Day Games

Flour Tag was a big hit with Kase. I think he put flour on his own face to resemble the group, "KISS" that he saw on American Idol. Lovely. (He did stick out his tongue, but I didn't get a picture of that)

Morgan liked the face painting. In fact, this was her second design of the day. She had to get the first one wiped off after she saw this cat face on someone else and had to have it.

Haden wasn't a fan of the water balloons. He didn't enjoy getting wet on his birthday or on a 67 degree windy day.

And of course, Sage was a fan of the ball.

Haden had the birthday he wanted when he got money to put toward his Ipod Touch. He is now the proud owner of a 16 GB Ipod Touch. He was cute when he said to Sam. "You and mom are too nice, you've done too much for me. That's all, don't do anymore." Happy Birthday to our Big 10 year old.

Sage 17 months-I Don't Want to Miss a Thing

It's hard for me to believe that our baby is already 17 months. She is such a delight. I wish I could capture all those precious moments and show them to you; like when she wakes up and Haden gets her out of her crib and she goes straight to the kitchen and gets a box of cereal and brings it to my room to eat it or spill it somewhere on the bed or floor. That's what makes me fly out of bed to clean up the first Sage mess of the day.

I wish you could see how she smiles when we say to her, "Show me your smile" or when we say, "Look how pretty her eyes are" and she blinks quickly many times.

It would be fun for everyone to hear her sweet voice as she tells us her animals sounds and her "lead me, guide me" part of 'I am a Child of God', other fun words' like; hello, hi, bye-bye, Haden, Daddy, Mommy, Mama, "on tum" (I want some), Ah-dun, Jesus, cheese, amen, appo (apple), banana, tickle-tickle, Tase for Kase, vroom-vroom, "dad-do" (thank you), "bainbe" (blankie) and many more. My favorite is ow-ow-ow-ow-ow-ow, (like you're torturing her) but all you are doing is pulling the back of her shirt to keep her from going and doing what you don't want her to do. The best is when she yells this during the sacrament prayer. She also says, candy (darn it) and yellow and Morgan's friend's name; Ella. When she sees something she wants to eat she says, num-num.

I love when she sees something she wants or that is cute and she is excited, she cups her hands close together and brings them close to her as if to say, I want to hold that.

I loooove her run. She doesn't really walk, she actually does some sort of gallop. She also does a side winding run. She is a very petite little girl so it looks funny that she can do so much. (She only weighs about 21 lbs. and has a shoe size 4.)

Sage loves to watch the birds at the bird feeder out the back sliding door. She will turn her head quickly to look at us with her mouth wide open in excitement. She also loves to hear the neighbor dogs bark and likes to look at dogs from afar. She is not too fond of them up close. She doesn't like the loud noises of the garbage truck or motorcycles when she is close to them.

She has many dolls she loves. She goes to sleep with one and of course that is another word she says; baby. It's amazing how even at such a young age she naturally shows affection to her dolls and takes care of them and loves them.

I love how Sage says hi to everyone. It's fun to watch people's reaction. Some will say hi back and interact with her, while others seem hurried and don't even notice. Most people say she's adorable and stop to chat with the little social bug.

She enjoys singing and hearing; Row, row, row your boat, Wheels on the Bus, Happy and you Know it, Eensy-Weensy Spider and I am a Child of God. At FHE she instantly goes to the front of the room to help lead the song. I can also hear her making the sounds for the ABC's song.

Sage is a climber. She learned at a young age to climb onto the kitchen chairs and then onto the table and then who knows where she could end up from there, the sky is the limit. She pushes a chair into the kitchen and climbs onto the counter and then climbs into the sink and turns the faucet on. We have to put all the chairs on the table so she can't get them. I don't want her to get by the stove or the knife drawer. She does like to park a chair by the multi-purpose drawer and have fun with that. I hope she doesn't learn to climb out of her crib.

Her favorite thing to eat is eggs. I have hated eggs for as long as I can remember. It takes some effort to even think they are a choice for a meal. Usually Daddy shares his eggs with her. She also likes Carnation chocolate milk, cheese, treats of course and pizza.

As hard as I've tried I know I am not remembering everything she does. She brings us great joy and is quite the character. We love her and wish she wasn't growing up so fast. Hopefully some of the pictures will capture her beautiful smile and precious personality.

A Record Breaking Hot Day

We enjoyed/suffered through 2 days in the 90's. In fact we set a record high. It was 97 degrees and poor Haden played baseball for 2 hours and was dressed as the catcher with all the extra uniform on. It was hard to get a picture of him since I was busy helping Morgan roller-blade and chase Sage. Morgan picked a hot day to roller-blade. Look at their rosy cheeks. The funny thing about the weather was that northern Minnesota was in the 30's and 40's while southern Minnesota hit 100 degrees.

One of the highlights on our walk was crossing the floating bridge on the pond and finding some Painted Turtles swimming around. I saw one eating a Sunchip. Is that part of nature?

Kase is doing a great job playing on his team, the Tigers. In one game he made 3 awesome runs. When he is outfield he does numerous things to entertain himself. He says when playing 3rd base, "Yeah, I got a base, I'm so excited, hello base." He is our little entertainer.

We always say, "Let's take a picture in the tree on Mother's Day." It has beautiful pink flowers in full bloom about that time. Well we finally took a picture and now the tree didn't cooperate. It didn't even seem to bloom like normal.

Granddad and Grandma King Come to Visit

I truly enjoyed having my parents come for Kase's baptism and more. They were able to stay for more than a week and we had a blast. During their stay we went to Nickelodeon Universe and the only ride my mom wouldn't go on was ...... hmmmm.... she went on any and every ride. What a women.
My dad was sitting by one ride and got hit in the back with somebody's loose change. A quarter shot him in the back and left a nice welt. We didn't file charges. J/K
My favorite ride was Avatar. A giant skateboard on a half pipe where you are suspended but are rotating. Hard to explain but what a thrill. I also love the rides that drop you and make your stomach go crazy. It's fun to be able to go on rides and not be pregnant.
We spent a lot of time and had a lot of gut busting laughs playing Wii. It was hilarious to watch my parents and to hear their responses.
We ate yummy food, stayed up too late, dealt with crazy kids, went on drives, shopped (not my dad he doesn't like that idea), and my mom and I went scrap booking.
I am thankful to them for coming.

Wabasha, MN Eagle Center

Yes, that Eagle is real. My dad has always loved eagles so we took a little trip so he could get a closer look at some of nature's beautiful birds. There were 3 eagles to view that were unable to fly so they were perched only feet from us. Others were brought in to show how they devour their meat and many others were viewed outside flying and nesting in the trees.

Harriet, is the eagle represented on the Minnesota wildlife license plate.

We spent a little bit of time at the Lark Toy Store which is the largest independently owned toy store in the US. They had many toys on display and it looked like it could have been the place where they took pictures for the "I Spy" books and games. We were very impressed by the hand carved creatures on the carousel. Sage rode on the otter and Morgan on the Unicorn and good ol' grandma was on the flamingo.

We had a wonderful baptism service for Kase. He chose his Granddad King and a friend from the ward, Henry Thomas to be his speakers. Morgan sang, "I am a Child of God" and everything went according to plan except I was unable to show the slide show I had made of Kase-technical difficulties. It was a wonderful spiritual experience for all of us. I liked when Kase was confirmed and he stood up to shake all the priesthood members hands and right behind him his sister Morgan was shaking their hands as well. Very cute. We are proud of Kase and his decision to be baptized.

Finally a warm enough day to play in the snow. We spent some time in the backyard sledding and building a sledding ramp. Haden stayed out the longest and built a little snowman too.

Our Trip to Washington D.C. (Read First)

Now that everyone is so done thinking about Christmas, I will tell you about our trip to Sam's sister's house in Vienna, Virginia. We headed out of town on Saturday, December 20th at 6:00 a.m. It was imperative to leaveat that time before the big winter storm blasted Minnesota.
At our first gas station stop Morgan was dying over some sweettart candy in what looked like a tube of lipstick. Sam felt like it was too early for her to eat candy so he said he would buy some at the next stop. Well stop after stop no one else sold this candy. We made some special stops just to look. No luck. It was all Morgan could talk about, "Remember dad you're going to get me the lipstick." How could we forget?
Other than Morgan talking about lipstick, the kids were super. The weather was perfect and we had smooth sailing. We finally stopped that night (midnight) all the way in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania. Sam took Sage on an early morning drive to the ER where we found out she had a major double ear infection. (I suspected) I was glad to know we could help her out now and get her better. She ended up taking about a 5 hour nap which always helps on a long drive.
Our favorite part of the drive was going through the Allegheny Mountain Tunnel which is a mile long tunnel. It was the longest tunnel any of us had ever been in. The kids thought it was so fun.
I was the navigator on the trip and did a pretty good job until at one point I thought we were supposed to exit and after I realized we weren't it was too late and as much as we tried we couldn't find an on ramp. I felt like we were in the Twilight Zone or even the Bermuda Triangle. Many many minutes later we got back on track by going the opposite direction on the highway just to find an on ramp to go the right way.
We arrived at Heather and Joe's at about 5 p.m. on Sunday. We ate a yummy dinner and went on a walk to see a live nativity scene. We were all excited to see Aaron, Josh, Daniel and Maggie who are all the same ages as our kids.

On Monday we headed to the Dulles Air and Space Museum where the big boys rode in a simulator machine, flying and shooting the enemies. That was fun to watch. We also went up into the tower to hear live traffic controlling and watch the airplanes come in at the airport.

Finishing up our D.C. Trip (Read Last,19th)

We spent our last few days doing the following: We first went to the National Archives where we saw the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. We got hungry so we decided to stay a little longer and eat our snacks for lunch. We had apples and huge amounts of chocolate chip bars.
See that pan Heather's holding. We ate all the bars!!!!The kids loved chasing and feeding the seagulls. They came soooo close to us.

____________________________________________________________________The next day was much colder and a ice storm was blowing through. The women and small children stayed in the cars while the brave men ventured out to see some more sites. They visited the Lincoln Monument. They don't even look that cold.

While we were waiting in the van I started taking pictures of us to pass the time. Heather was in her van with 2 kids and probably jealous of the fun we were having. :) We all managed to get out to see the Jefferson Memorial. But had to fight some very cold wind. Sam was holding a kid and pushing one in a stroller and almost flipped the stroller over. The vans were parked forever away and we were so glad when we finally got in and warmed up.

Joe is in the army and loves to exercise and do push-ups. This is his version of a push-up. Yuck----He likes to see how many kids can pile on and then he does his push-ups.

Happy New Year. We gathered for a big family picture before we had to head home. We had tons of fun, ate very good food and have great memories.
We took a different way home and it felt like we would never get there. We had great weather and no stops at the ER. When we got home we found that Santa had stopped through while we were gone. He left Legos for the kids and a sing-a-long Stage for Sage. The biggest bumber of the trip is finding out later that my good friend Karen Whitaker was visiting in D.C. too and I didn't know it. I wished I could have hooked up with her and some other friends that live in that area. We highly recommend a trip to D.C. and we know a great host family. :)

Arlington National Cemetery (13th)

The little ones stayed at home with Heather today as we went to the Arlington National Cemetery to see the changing of the guard. It was humbling to see headstones as far as I could see. Here is some info if you want to know more about it.

The Changing of the Guard

The guard is changed every hour on the hour Oct. 1 to March 31 in an elaborate ritual. From April 1 through September 30, there are more than double the opportunities to view the change because another change is added on the half hour and the cemetery closing time moves from 5 to 7 p.m.

An impeccably uniformed relief commander appears on the plaza to announce the Changing of the Guard. Soon the new sentinel leaves the Quarters and unlocks the bolt of his or her M-14 rifle to signal to the relief commander to start the ceremony. The relief commander walks out to the Tomb and salutes, then faces the spectators and asks them to stand and stay silent during the ceremony.

The relief commander conducts a detailed white-glove inspection of the weapon, checking each part of the rifle once. Then, the relief commander and the relieving sentinel meet the retiring sentinel at the center of the matted path in front of the Tomb. All three salute the Unknowns who have been symbolically given the Medal of Honor. Then the relief commander orders the relieved sentinel, "Pass on your orders." The current sentinel commands, "Post and orders, remain as directed." The newly posted sentinel replies, "Orders acknowledged," and steps into position on the black mat. When the relief commander passes by, the new sentinel begins walking at a cadence of 90 steps per minute.

The Tomb Guard marches 21 steps down the black mat behind the Tomb, turns, faces east for 21 seconds, turns and faces north for 21 seconds, then takes 21 steps down the mat and repeats the process. After the turn, the sentinel executes a sharp "shoulder-arms" movement to place the weapon on the shoulder closest to the visitors to signify that the sentinel stands between the Tomb and any possible threat. Twenty-one was chosen because it symbolizes the highest military honor that can be bestowed -- the 21-gun salute.

Duty time when not "walking" is spent in the Tomb Guard Quarters below the Memorial Display Room of the Memorial Amphitheater where they study Cemetery "knowledge," clean their weapons and help the rest of their relief prepare for the Changing of the Guard. The guards also train on their days off.

The Guards of Honor at the Tomb of the Unknowns are highly motivated and are proud to honor all American service members who are "Known But to God."

This is an aerial view from the top of the Washington Monument. The north side shows the White House, East side is the Capital and the National Mall, South is the Jefferson Memorial and the West side is the Lincoln Monument.

The Washington Monument is the most prominent structure in Washington, D.C. and one of the city's early attractions. It was built in honor of George Washington, who led the country to independence and then became its first President. The Monument is shaped like an Egyptian obelisk, stands 555’ 5 1/8” tall, and offers views in excess of thirty miles. It was finished on December 6, 1884.

In this picture the kids are looking for the Christmas Pickle. A picture of a pickle hidden in the tree. I think Josh learned about it at school, kind of crazy.

Oh, by the way Morgan's favorite present was the sweettart candy lipstick which Sam finally found by going out on Christmas Eve to a candy store in one of the business shopping areas in the area, Tyson's Corner. She was thrilled to be united with this simple gift. She had been waiting since we started our trip.

I loved the Palmer tradition for Christmas Eve Dinner. Everyone got to pick what they wanted to eat. So here is how it ended up. For our main dish, French toast, with Broccoli and cheese, little smokies wrapped in bacon, Cheetos, Pretzels with cheese and kool-aid. It was a lot of fun. Everyone helped with their part.

We all really enjoyed our day at the Smithsonian Natural History Museum. I felt like we were in the movie Night at the Museum. I was just waiting for something to come to life.

Sam's sister, Heather made Sage a Chocolate chip cinnamon cake. She knew how to dig in better this time. I can't believe our baby is a year old. Her measurements are 19lbs 3 1/2 oz (75%) and 28 1/2 inches long (25%).

Kase's Christmas Program

Kase aka Charlie Brown stole the show as he starred in "Charlie Brown's Christmas". He was so at ease as he delivered his lines perfectly and with great enthusiam. He had to memorize 18 seperate parts, some included long paragraphs. I see acting in his future. Everyone said he did a great job. We were so proud of him. I was worried at one time that he didn't even know his lines because I never even practiced with him. But he surprised me with how well he had memorized them without any help. Great job Kase!

December 13, 2008 Before we headed out to Washington D.C. we were able to celebrate Morgan's 4th birthday and Sage's 1st birthday. We had the whole family over and enjoyed cake, ice cream and watching the girls open their presents. Sage's favorite present was a doll like Morgan has. It makes many different sounds and she is quite the little mommy with her baby.

Why haven't I blogged for the past 2 months?
I told my friend Allison that I haven't found the time to blog lately. She asked me what was taking all my time and I couldn't answer her. I have been in deep thought ever since.

Could it be because I have 4 kids?

Is it because I am running a 4 year old back and forth to preschool 3 times a week?

Could it be that I spent 4 hours one day in the kitchen learning to cook with a pressure cooker but finally made a yummy dinner?

Does it have anything to do with the fact that it is too cold to want to do anything?

Could it be that I am at Target too much?

Is it because I am constantly cleaning up after Sage? (She likes to dump out the boxes of cereal)

Is it because we have 3 Webkinz and I can't get a turn on the computer?

Could it be that everytime I get on the computer to blog I end up reading everyone else's blogs?

Anyway I am excited to get my act together and tell you all about our exciting trip to Washington D.C. for Christmas, Morgan and Sage's birthday celebrations and Kase's performing talent.

Santa's Lap

We spent a long fun day at Mall of America. We rode some rides, went miniature golfing, saw Santa, went to legoland and were exhausted.

Twilight Movie

Julieanne and I have been looking forward to our Girl's night out to see the Twilight movie. We made some shirts, met up with Sam's family for dinner, met more friends at the theatre and then had treats with more friends after the movie. We enjoyed it thouroughly. Sam was left home with 6 kids. What a guy.

Eagle at the Zoo

This eagle was injured and rescued but is now unable to fly. I felt bad for him as he sat and watched the leaves fall from the trees. How beautiful!

Haden and Kase weren't exactly thrilled when they had to go to school everyday and we went and played. We spent one day at the Children's Museum with a quick stop at the candy store afterward.

Maplewood Nature Center

We were so lucky to have my sister Julieanne and her two kids; Jones (3 1/2) and Marshall (10 months) come visit us for a week. On their first day Sam took the older kids on a walk around the Maplewood Nature Center to see the wildlife and get some wiggles out.

Wii Love Halloween

Wii love Halloween. For many years wii have been starting off our Halloween by 1st stopping in at the Oakdale Fire Station for a hot dog and some pop. Wii enjoy touring the fire trucks and ambulance. Wii gather our cousins and then wii are off to trick or treat.

12-0 Football League Champions

Haden played a great season of football. He played on a team of awesome boys, super coaches and great parental support. His team had the loudest sideline cheering.:)
This was his first time playing tackle football. He played the positions of guard, left tight end and kick-off. He was happy to be a champ but felt bad for the other team that had their 1st loss.

The boys got a trophy for participating and a trophy for being #1.
Haden is very proud of them and keeps them covered with a cloth.

Haden had the experience of a lifetime as he took flight with his fellow scouts. Haden was the co-pilot with Bishop Seilbach as pilot.
Our bishop was kind enough to offer the boys this awesome adventure.

Sage is already 10 months. Just before she turned 10 months she mastered her walking skills. She is now all over the place and thinks she is so cool. (She is)

This is our most recent picture done by JcPenney at the end of September. I can't believe how big the kids are getting. Haden will be 10 in May, Kase will be 8 in March, Morgan will be 4 in Dec. and Sage will be 1 in Dec. Time flies.

Our Trip to Nauvoo, Illinois

The kids were great on our recent trip to Nauvoo, Illinois. We traveled down on Wednesday morning. We spent a couple days there and then hit a waterpark on the way home in Waterloo, Iowa. The kids watched lots of movies while I started reading "Twilight". I probably wasn't very helpful with the kids because I couldn't put my book down.

Sage is always a great baby. She enjoyed all the action.

The corn was so high here. 10 feet in some places.

Before we saw the Nauvoo Pagaent, the kids were able to participate in some fun pioneer pastimes. There was handcart rides, sawing with a double saw, walking on stilts, a puppet show,dancing and lots more. We met a family who was visiting from New Hampshire who had 11 kids. They were here for 2 weeks to be in the pagaent. Wow, what pioneers they were.

The neatest thing that happened on our trip was running into our dear friends, the Warners. Gil and Nedra Warner were here visiting with family for a reunion. I was so thrilled to see them. Gil Warner was an instrumental person in the "King" Family. 60 years ago he baptized my grandparents into the church. They have remained in contact through the years and 4 generations later. Gil and Nedra are very close friends of my grandparents. Brother Warner even did the sealing for my sister Janessa's temple wedding. Of all the places to run into someone so instrumental in my life. What an experience.

We drove 30 minutes south east to Carthage, Illinois. Carthage Jail was an amazing place to visit and we knew we were at a very reverenced place.

I loved watching Haden, Kase and Morgan play the pioneer games and dress as they would have dressed. Morgan could have stayed all day taking care of "her" babies. She made them some soup and then clothed them and took care of them. She made sure to kiss them all before we left.

We enjoyed many of the plays; including "Anna Amanda", " High Hopes and Riverboats" and "Rendezvous in Nauvoo", and of course the "Nauvoo Pagaent". The actors were great.

We had a fun night aboard a paddleboat on the St. Croix river for a picnic dinner and tour criuse.

Our 4th of July started with the Cannon Falls Parade
with lots of candy, huge semi's, motorcycles and even horses.
Then we headed off the swim at the local waterpark.
Sage was unsure about swimming before this day.
It took a hot day like today to know that swimming is the best!

Haden had a great time at his first Pinewood Derby held in Hudson, Wisconsin. His car came in 10th out of 33. Good job, Haden! It was fun to see a lot of friends.
